Scientists Just Discovered Something Hidden Inside Cannabis Leaves
For decades, cannabis research has focused on the stars of the show: THC, CBD, terpenes, and cannabinoids.
But according to a new study from researchers at Stellenbosch University, we've only been scratching the surface. Scientists have identified 25 compounds that had never before been reported in cannabis, including the first evidence of an extremely rare class of molecules called flavoalkaloids hiding in the plant's leaves.

In total they identified:
79 phenolic compounds
25 compounds never before reported in cannabis
16 rare flavoalkaloids, most of which appeared predominantly in a single strain.
The findings highlight just how chemically diverse cannabis can be... and why different cultivars continue to be an important area of research.
