The modern infused pre-roll is a layered thing, and each layer adds its own chunk of THC to the total. Before you can calculate anything, you need to know what you're actually working with.

Flower Is the Foundation

Cannabis flower is the dried, cured bud of the cannabis plant, ground down and packed into the wrap. It is the core of every pre-roll without exception. 

Whether you are holding a basic single or a fully loaded infused blunt, ground flower is what fills the inside and gives the pre-roll its physical structure. It is the largest ingredient by weight, it burns the longest, and it determines the baseline character of everything you're smoking. 

Every other ingredient in an infused pre-roll is added on top of it. Nothing replaces it.

Concentrate Infusion Stacks the Potency

Infused pre-rolls don't stop at flower. A concentrated cannabis extract is added into the mix, and that addition is what separates an infused pre-roll from a standard one. It's not a finishing touch or a branding gimmick. 

It's a real, physical layer of cannabis product packed into the same wrap alongside the flower, and it contributes its own chunk of potency on top of whatever the flower base is already bringing.

Concentrates are significantly more potent by weight than flower, which means even a relatively small amount of infusion changes the character of a pre-roll considerably. That's why infused pre-rolls are in a different category from standard ones entirely.

That spread matters because fill weight is the foundation of every potency calculation you're about to do. Everything else multiplies against it. 

Check the label for the flower weight listed separately from total product weight. If it isn't broken out, the total weight minus the paper and any listed concentrate weight gets you close enough to work with.

Multiply by the THC Percentage

Once you have the flower weight in milligrams, multiply by the THC percentage as a decimal. A 1g pre-roll (1,000mg) filled with 22% THC flower contains roughly 220mg of total THC. That's the baseline number on a standard, non-infused pre-roll.

Here's the quick primer:

• 0.5g flower at 20% THC = 100mg THC

• 1g flower at 22% THC = 220mg THC

• 2.5g flower at 25% THC = 625mg THC

That number represents the THC in the flower only. Infused pre-rolls add concentrate on top of this, which is a separate calculation covered in the next section.

Always Calculate from the Top of the Range

Cannabis labels often show a THC range rather than a fixed number, something like 22-27%. Always run your math using the higher figure. Lab testing has natural variance, and flower that tests at the top of its range is common, not exceptional.

Using the lower number gives you a false sense of how strong a pre-roll actually is. If you're trying to manage your session or share with someone who's newer to flower, underestimating by 50-80mg can make a real difference in how the experience lands.

Assume the ceiling, plan accordingly, and you won't get caught off guard.

How Concentrate Infusion Changes the MG Math

Once you add concentrate to the equation, the simple flower-times-percentage formula fails to capture the real potency. Infused pre-rolls stack THC from multiple sources, and if you only count the flower, you're leaving out a big chunk of what's actually in there.

What Concentrate Is Actually Inside

The label should tell you exactly what was used, and this is a crucially important piece of information. Live resin, hash oil, distillate, and rosin each carry different THC concentrations, and that number matters for your math.

Live resin typically runs 60-80% THC. Distillate can push past 90%. If the label just says 'infused' without specifying the concentrate type or its potency, that's a gap worth filling before you try to calculate anything.

Adding the Concentrate THC to Your Total

Once you know the concentrate type and its THC percentage, the math is straightforward. Multiply the weight of the concentrate by its THC percentage, then add that number to the THC you already calculated from the flower.

Take the Stiiizy 40's as a real example. A pack with 5 blunt carries 2.5g of flower plus a half gram of live resin infusion. If the flower runs 25% THC and the live resin is 70% THC, here's how the numbers stack:

• Flower THC: 2.5g x 1000 x 0.25 = 625mg

• Live resin THC: 0.5g x 1000 x 0.70 = 350mg

• Total THC for a 5-pack: 625mg + 350mg = 975mg

• Total THC per blunt: 975mg / 5 = 195mg

Kief is the crystalline trichome layer dusted on the outside of the wrap, and it's not decorative. Kief typically tests between 40-60% THC, so even a light coating on a 2.5g blunt adds a measurable amount on top of everything else.

The exact weight of a kief coating is rarely listed separately on packaging, which makes it the hardest variable to pin down. What you can count on is this: if the label calls out a kief-dusted wrap, the total mg figure printed on the package should already include it. 

If you're doing your own calculation from raw ingredients, treat the kief as an additional 50-100mg buffer depending on how heavily coated the exterior looks.
